Anterior Bite Plates
The Anterior Bite Plate is used to treat a deep bite. An acrylic shelf is built into a maxillary plate in the anteriorregion where it will be contacted by the mandibular anteriors holding the bite open in the posterior region.
Posterior Bite Plates
A posterior bite plate is used to correct an anterior open bite (when front teeth are not overlapping at all when biting). It is often used with a functional appliance such as an activator. ... May also be used to correct a Class I type III (lingually trapped anterior tooth).
Finishing and Retention Appliances
Essix Retainers
Essix retainers are removable retainers made entirely out of removable plastic, which makes them less noticeable than traditional wire retainers.
Hawley Retainers
The best-known removable retainer, which consists of a metal wire that typically surrounds the six anterior teeth and keeps them in place. Named for its inventor, Dr. Charles A. Hawley, the labial wire, or Hawley bow, incorporates 2 omega loops for adjustment. Please specify color: Clear, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple.
Bleaching Retainers
Each of the teeth bleaching trays can be filled with the appropriate amount of a peroxide-based whitening gel that is similar to what is used in popular whitening strips.
Habit Appliances
Crib
The Crib Habit appliance is used on the upper arch to restrain the tongue from excessive anterior movement or thumb sucking. A .040” support arch wire is soldered to bands on the first molars.
Bluegrass
The “Blue Grass” Appliance is designed to correct thumb sucking habits. A teflon roller that spins on a support wire acts as a substitute habit. The palatal lingual wire holding the roller is soldered to bands on the first molars.
Space Maintenance
Lower Lingual Arch (LLA)
A lingual arch is an orthodontic device which connects two molars in the upper or lower dental arch. The lower lingual arch (LLA) has an archwire adapted to the lingual side of the lower teeth.
Trans-Palatal Arch (TPA)
TPA (Trans-Palatal Arch) The Trans-Palatal Arch is an orthodontic appliance used to maintain the upper jaw's arch width and move molars into positions that wires alone can't. The appliance is banded around the first molars on each side of the mouth, and a thin wire spans across the roof of the mouth.
Nance (Hayes-Nance)
Depending on the needs of the patient, a Nance Appliance can be used to slightly expand or rotate the upper molars or hold the molars in place, following the movement of teeth. The appliance is commonly used to prevent upper molars from drifting forward. It is sometimes used as a fixed upper retainer.
Custom Mouthguard

The American Dental Association and the Academy for Sports Dentistry recommend a professionally-made, properly-fitted custom mouthguard for all contact and collision sports. Over 5 million teeth are knocked out each year and the lifetime cost to replace one tooth is approximately $20,000 . Protecting your smile while playing sports is essential when you have braces. Mouthguards help protect your teeth and gums from injury. If you participate in basketball, boxing, hockey, football, gymnastics, lacrosse, martial arts, racquetball, rugby, track and field, skateboarding, skiing and snowboarding, skydiving, soccer, surfing, volleyball, water polo, weightlifting, or wrestling, it is recommended by the American Association of Orthodontists that you wear a mouthguard. You can order these in Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple.
